A new ‘viagra’ arrives, but it is natural and it is in the supermarket
It is not blue, nor in pill form, the new ‘viagra’ comes in the form of nuts.
Albert Salas-Huetos, co-main author of the work, explains to Alimente: “This is the first study of these characteristics and, therefore, it is very important to open the door to future trials”.
Experts from the Center for Biomedical Research Network on the Physiopathology of Obesity and Nutrition, belonging to the Human Nutrition Unit of the Rovira i Virgili University (URV), have shown that consuming 60 grams a day of walnuts, hazelnuts and almonds is associated with an improvement in male sexual function.
A Spanish study confirms that the consumption of nuts improves male sexual function.
Salas-Huetos believes that “the mechanism of action of nuts was originally due to the nutrients contained in the nuts administered. These have a large amount of arginine, a powerful modulator of the nitric oxide pathway, which is beneficial for vasodilation, the main mechanism of erectile function “.
The results obtained underline that the adherence to a Western diet – not healthy – complemented with walnuts, hazelnuts and almonds can help improve sexual desire and orgasmic function. The researchers also note that studies with more participants are required to confirm these results and clarify the possible mechanisms involved in these benefits.
